Overview
Most downloads crawl along on a single connection. Lychee asks the server for the file in blocks of up to 8 MB and keeps many streams fetching them at once, so a big download finishes in a fraction of the time.
It goes past one network too. If your computer has Wi-Fi and a phone tethered over USB, Lychee uses both for the same file - no VPN, virtual adapter or admin rights needed. Torrents work the same way, with magnet links and .torrent files spread across your networks.
Why Lychee
- 01Parallel connections every network starts with 8 streams and scales up to 32 as they fill
- 02Every network at once faster links take more blocks, and a dropped one leaves the rest running
- 03Pause and resume progress is saved as you go, and Lychee checks the file has not changed before resuming
- 04No slow finish near the end, a free stream races a slow block and the first to finish wins
- 05Survives restarts and sleep streams pick back up when the computer wakes or a network reconnects
- 06Queue and limits speed caps, Slow mode, data allowances per network and an overnight schedule
